Tam T. Valenti has been drawn to issues of the human spirit, healing, and self expression since her days as a young artist, discovering the world through drawing and painting.

“David” by T. Tran 2000

When she moved to New York City in 2003, she found a different “home” and her occupation took a more therapeutic turn towards holistic arts.

As a practicing bodyworker, Tam explored a number of manual therapy methods, both through education and treatment. Rolfing® Structural Integration stood out to her for it’s belief in the evolution of the individual as well as in it’s deep affect as a manual therapy toward balanced structure and freedom of movement.

As a receiver Rolfing has greatly helped her resolve bodily discomforts and restricted movement habits. Before her initial 10 series, she was generally fit and lived a healthy lifestyle, but her activities in sports and in weight training exposed her to a number of injuries and limiting compensations.

After her first Rolfing session, she felt hopeful. After her second session, she recognized that the work was unique. The attention she received to her legs had her move quite differently as to engage her core while walking. Given that the activity of walking is repeated about 11,000 times in a day, Tam believed that it had made a dramatic positive change to her body.

She went on to receive her basic 10 series and was inspired to pursue the Rolfing training shortly after. Since, she has appreciated being able to provide the level of skill and care Rolfing has enabled her offer. Drawn to learn and discover, Tam deepens her anatomy and movement studies with continuous education and her own wellness in tai chi and adventure cycling.
